CHAPTER   ONE

The story was one of several outcomes in the lives of two people. When one of us laughed the other one would laugh. When one of us cried the other cried. We were as close as two people could get without getting behind one another. The two of us started out in two different directions and found ourselves in married bliss. The exciting news came as no surprise to us because for a year we lived with each other in the same household. This gave us the necessary awareness to know what we wanted in a life partner. The wedding was beautiful. The day started out with a perfect shower together and the necessary dressing in our wedding clothes. It was necessary dress, but not too formal. She got a wedding dress for the occasion. We were scheduled for a church wedding and a sit down affair at a local hotel. This scenario did not play out due to several unforeseen happenings. The church called one day and we got into an argument over the details. This was very bad and would not be forgotten by us. The priest really did not come through for us and really disappointed us. I really wanted to see my future bride walk down the aisle at my local church, but it was not to come about.

Although we had to cancel the sit-down dinner at the hotel, we had a nice day. We moved up the day and decided on a justice of the peace to officiate at the wedding. The jp showed up on time and we went through with the wedding. We had wonderful pictures of the whole thing and made real good albums for all the relatives. It was a small affair shared by selected friends. These friends would share a dinner at a local restaurant. The dinner was lovely and the wait-staff gave us a lovely Italian dessert. It was a local wedding and we did not have an elaborate affair.

We are now set up in a lovely little house and it is eight months since the wedding and we are preparing our Christmas in 2000. So far the holidays are going well as we have been lucky to have close people watching out for us. It is a great time of the year for us now as we are still newlyweds. Being in love is as sweet as the birds chirping in the morning and the lovely coat of white on the grass outside. We have two perfect grandmothers and they bring further love to our lives. My mother-in-law is a real cool lady who threw us the wedding. We are in the best relationship of our lives and are very happy. My love is my inspiration for this book and remains my trusted confidante up to this day. She is a psychology major who wants to volunteer at a shelter for abused women. She is a very smart woman, my wife, who loves me very much. I love her so much it hurts when I cry. I am very pleased with my life now, as it is always a great thing.

We celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas. We have two different ceremonies. It is a fun loving time that we share with each other. I believe we are giving honor to the Christians and the Jewish people at the same time. It is a fun time of the year. The presents are under the tree now and we are waiting for Christmas day. It is the first day of Hanukkah and we are sitting on the sofa. My honey was telling me a story about how she met me. She said that she was also alone and was staying in a lonely Norwood apartment. The walls and the floors seemed so cold and sterile. Day after day crouched in the small sofa [which was her only comfort] almost always feeling an attitude that hung over her night after night with no sleep. She asked herself; what is her purpose on this earth? Why was she here? Where should she go? Start to live life? She felt very empty; just alone and empty. One day Rick Gonzales called her for another job she felt was a dead-end job, but that it could fill her empty days. In Norwood, the TJ Maxx was just this job. She showed up at the door dressed to kill and looking attractive. We both sat down to do the paper work for the job. We started on Monday. Time passed and Lauren and Michael were running back and forth together in the back room. They gradually talked to one another as Lauren took it upon herself to make this individual talk. They gradually became friends. Then one day she looked at me and realized her stomach did a small flip. She thought it was a sour stomach, but it was love. True love, no doubt about it that was it!

I was always going through the issues day after day. I was not as full a person until one day I was at Neponset River House and was looking at the jobs that they had posted. I enjoyed going to the club but was looking for something else, I did not know what it was. I carefully scrutinized the list of jobs and decided on one; TJ Maxx was it. I told Rick Gonsalas and then went into the store for my interview. There was another person there at the same time; a girl. I did not talk much and just filled out the forms. The store gave us both the jobs and it was going to start the next day. We were assigned to be working in the back room unpacking crates that came in on the truck. We did a good job. Then we met the shift supervisor and worked with her always. Lauren was better than I was so she was selected to work on the floor. I continued to unpack the crates and she was working putting the things out.          Unbeknownst to me Lauren had an eating disorder and was missing several days of work, but would always come back. I was compelled to take her to lunches at Boston Market. We had an excellent lunch every day. We got to know each other quite well. I would also drive her home. Then we started to go out after work.

Lauren had a bad night and was going to a hospital. She called me and told me where she was going to be, I was extremely interested. I wanted to follow her to the ends of the earth, I really wanted to. I came up to her everyday to see her and bring her smokes and dinner. I know what dinner was like in hospitals. I enjoyed her company and really liked talking with her. She was the perfect company for me as I was very lonely and needed someone as a mate. I wish to spend some time detailing my steps of what I did. I found out the telephone numbers to the hospital and got home to call for information. I found out Lauren was at Belmont hospital and immediately got in my car and drove to see her. It was very easy to see her as I brought her gifts with me. The groups were good for her and she looked very well rounded. We talked about my work. This lasted for a couple of weeks and found out she was going to Ashburnham for a month. I got directions for this and immediately drove the forty miles to see her. I could not think of anything else.
